I have always loved pictures ever since I was a small child. It was something my beloved Dad passed on to me, the joy and art of taking photographs. I remember from the time I could walk, my Dad always had a camera around his neck and a light meter in his hand. Over the years, I became a shutter bug receiving my 1st Kodak Instamatic camera when I was 10 years old. I experimented with all types of subjects, 1st my pets who were patient model subjects, my children through out the years until they got tired of me wanting to capture ALL moments. I then began to focus on still photography mainly capturing flowers, boats, homes and gardens.
I had such accumulated quite a collection of beautiful photographs but didn’t know how to share them. Then one day a friend said, “You should make a book of your best photos. Then you can share them more easily having them displayed on your coffee table.” Wow – That got me thinking, she was right. I needed to come up with an idea to give life to my images. I created a few coffee style books but the gratification wasn’t there.
One day my Mom and I were chatting, and of course she being one of my biggest fans, she asked me, “why don’t you make greeting cards? Your pictures are so lovely and I would love to share them with my friends.” The spark ignited. I started making greeting cards and shared them with my family and friends. The feedback I received was highly positive and encouraging. Over the past few years I have received many request from family and friends asking how they can purchase my cards. And so my journey began.
I have now decided to share my beautiful images captured on stationery products. It has inspired my creativity – trying to find something unique to share through my photographs. I love taking photos, I love seeing the finished image on the big computer screen and I am amazed by how much is skill and how much is luck.
Last, I want to thank my husband Andrew, who has been my greatest supporter steering me in ways to broaden my path in the greeting card business. My Dad, Peter who had a tremendous impact on giving me the shutter bug itch. He encouraged me, guided me and it was a common bond we shared. My mom, Bernadette for her enthusiastic encouragement. My sisters Andrea and Christine, who provided honest criticism and praises from the beginning. They will continue to be my artistic compass.
